Once again David was the first to arrive at the Britain’s Got Talent auditions today. It sounds as if all is positive again: David took his time with the fans, and was just as cheery and funny inside: poring the tea for the cast and crew.
Meanwhile the audience says: “David is such a babe. So funny at the BGT auditions”.

David Walliams is a busy man. Not only is he flying around the UK to judge talent as the new Britain’s Got Talent judge, he is also working on several projects.
Yesterday he spent most of his day in Llandaff following the footsteps of Roald Dahl for a new ITV documentary. He was spotted by fans being filmed in The Great Wall Chinese takeaway and reading Dahls work and doing an interview on the writer with children at the Cathedral school in Llandaff, where Dahl used to go as a child amongst other hotspots. He was also seen when he took an unfortunate trip down the stairs at Cardiff central, luckily he escaped unharmed. His wife Lara Stone accompanied him, they were seen having dinner at the Potted Pig. She said “Going to Wales for the first time ever! So excited”. She joked with friends she might pop up on stage at the Cardiff BGT auditions tomorrow saying: “I’m going to show off my knitting talent”.

David Walliams has told Newsbeat he was “excited” to be writing a book, which he says will be titled Camp David.

“It’s weird, in writing it you remember more and more things,” he said. “Also, it’s good to ask other people what their memories are.

“I did keep diaries from about the age of 30, so I’ve got a lot of stuff there.”

He added: “I think the hardest thing is recalling people’s names – like a teacher who taught you 30 years ago.”

When asked if he thought he was too young to be writing a book, Walliams joked: “I’m 62.

“Some really young people have written them. Kenneth Branagh wrote one when he was 26.”

The actor says the book will be released later this year.

Walliams was speaking backstage at the NTAs on Wednesday, where he won the Landmark award for his charity work.

Last year, he swam the length of the Thames to raise money for Sport Relief.

‘Fantastic’ judging

David Walliams is a judge on the new series of Britain’s Got Talent, alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.

Earlier this week, there were reports that Cowell was worried about Walliams’ jokes on the show being too risky.

But the Little Britain actor dismissed those as rumours, branding them “made-up”.

He joked: “It’s surprising to find out, I don’t know if you know but newspapers completely make up things.”

The 40-year-old says he’s pleased with how his first week of filming has gone.

“I kept looking to the [Britain's Got Talent] team for guidance but they were like ‘no, great, love it, fantastic’.”

“We’ve done three days now and I haven’t been sacked.”

Last night David Walliams won the Landmark award for his Thames swim at the National TV Awards.
Collecting the award from a beaming Dermot O’Leary a clearly emotional David gave a brief speech after receiving a standing ovation. Saying later: “I was very close to crying when I received that extraordinary ovation tonight at the NTAs. I know exactly why I did it. Because I’ve seen how the money raised helps people around the world.”

At the party the Britain’s Got Talent team said: “There’s a whole lot of love at the National TV Awards for charity swimmer & Landmark Award winner David Walliams Water star. Boom boom!”
While Ant and Dec said: “David is brilliant. He’s winding Simon up a treat.”

Michael McIntyre revealed: “I had tea with David Walliams at Claridges and he’ll be brilliant. He was very charming and media savvy and we had a nice chat.”

Congratulations and a speedy recovery to Amanda Holden after the birth of her daughter Hollie Rose!!

After all the hooha about David’s judging in the media all eyes were on him as he took to the judging chair once more yesterday.
David met up with fans in the poring rain for 15 minutes and even did some sort of striptease. Read all about it here

After that he took to a Blackpool hotel, where the staff and manager say he was “so sweet and polite”.
Backstage during judging David was seen enjoying a nice stick of Blackpool rock and a cream egg.

David Walliams will do an interview on Roald Dahl at the Cathedral school in Llandaff on Friday and is off to Cardiff for more auditions the next day. David is hoping to see some parrots there.

As every audience comment about David Walliams ‘s Britain’s Got Talent debut has been positive and David has been getting on famously with Simon and the judges, it was s surprise to read the reports in the papers today. Every paper and media outlet around the world reported on how David had shocked contestants, judges and audiences alike with his behaviour and comments. It has been claimed that David has been reprimanded by bosses and told to reign it in. People who were in the audience have responded that they were not shocked and loved David the way he was. It would be a shame if ITV confused David and ruin his time on the show when he has been so happy on the show in the last few weeks.
Let’s hope it’s just media hype and David can continue to have fun and provide great TV for us!!

David has revealed: “I can’t wait for Tuesday when BGT hits Blackpool. I still can’t believe I am actually getting paid to have so much fun! I think I have a new double act partner, Simon Cowell! I haven’t laughed so much in years.” Read more about their cute bromance here

During recordings David got overexcited about banana’s and Amanda Holden proceeded to sexily feed him one. He joked with some pipers,
discussed lederhosen, told an act: “if you came dressed a vicar I’d put u thru” and did something that prompted people to say “well done, I couldn’t have done it!!”
The Manchester Choir was very excited: “What a rollercoaster!! 4 Yes’s! David Walliams thank you for the drink, kiss and support!!! Daniel and all at MSC xxx”
David was seen tucking into chocolate and writing on his computer during the break. Later he got some trouble with his back and had to “sneakily get a cushion!” and had to had to lean over someone to get some water. He left with Simon through the backdoor.

It seems David Walliams is settling down nicely as one of Britain’s got Talent newest judges.
He revealed: “BGT yesterday was the most fun I have ever had doing a TV show. I even ended up on the stage! All will be revealed! Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden were really welcoming and helped Alesha Dixon and I through the first day. At the end of it we felt like a family, albeit a dysfunctional one.
When Kelly Brook did the show, she asked Ant and Dec what they did on it. I have seen the show, so I haven’t made that mistake — and I’ve learned which is Ant and which is Dec, so I should be fine. The others have all judged before. I haven’t but, you know, it should be OK. How hard can it be?
I am prepared to be mean. Oh yeah. But you can’t take on Simon, he’s the boss. You have to be yourself. Simon said to me that this is the reality version of Little Britain.
It’s the same show really apart from the fact that me and Matt [Lucas] were acting and this is genuine eccentrics. That is why I wanted to be part of this show. I love eccentrics. I love the nutty people, I have a kinship with them. I think I’m there to provide a bit of comic relief. I’m just going to be myself and hopefully I will be funny at some points. I always wanted to do a show like this. It’s the biggest show on TV. It’s a great year to do it because Simon is back. I’m going to be close enough to smell him. If I had to audition myself I’d perform naked hoola hoop dancing.”

Simon Cowell said about David’s first day: “David Walliams is insane! He could be unpredictable. He might turn up as a woman day one. Anything goes.”

The auditions went very well, according to the audience. David and Simon shared a lot of banter, and David was very saucy. David joked with a contestant who created their own song. The song included the phrase “Where me keys? where me phone?” He had a heated discussion with Simon about whether or not Snickers contained calories, kissed and hugged fans. Sang Celine Dion, joked with a couple playing the piano.
He also gained a few boos, telling a young boy band: “You’re not One Direction… What, not everyone likes One Direction”

He had to turn of his phone on silent after he got a text and bitched to Alesha “yes Alesha Dixon, I’m wearing lipgloss.”
David even got up onstage with some camp sailors. Grabbing one of their caps he joined them in a dance to “It’s raining men”.

Today David Walliams started his spot as a Britain’s Got Talent judge (let’s hope Simon Cowell has finally arrived as we write this.)
Looking tanned, happy and a little bit nervous David walked the red carpet to the biggest cheers of the day. David posed with, kissed and talked
to fans and was very “sweet” to the audience that had waited in the rain for hours to catch a glimpse of the judges.
Before going out there David said: “I am counting the hours until BGT auditions start in Manchester. I really can’t wait to take my judge’s seat! How excited I am? As Simon says… ‘A million %!’”
Last night Ant and Dec had dinner with David and the other judges (no Simon apparently).
Simon meanwhile has spoken to the media about why he wanted David: “”I wanted to make sure we’d got David Walliams. I like David because he’s weird and he makes me laugh without trying to be funny.”
