As you all know David will face two milestones in the coming months: On August 20 David will celebrate his 40th birthday then a month later he will swim the Thames. If you want to wish David a happy birthday or good luck on his challenge (or both!!) you can send him a message here. The messages will be handed to David on August the 19th.

Happy Birthday Mr. Waliams. I recently saw the documentary of you swimming the Channel in 2006 and it inspired me to get back into swimming again. Good Luck with the Thame challenge….you’ll be great!
Having just turned 4 0 myself I canonly admire someone a few weeks younger than me that can even attempt this swim. Personally u prefer a nice cup of tea and a nap! Good luck youngster….

Dear David, have a great birthday. Be careful in the Thames. Take your antibacterial shots, wash yourself thoroughly with anti bacterial soap after!! It’s pretty filthy down there, try not to get ill hun!! It’s amazing what you do, but don’t kill yourself doing it!! How long will you swim? Weeks a month?? I’ll be supporting you, but please, if it get’s too bad, just get out of there!! No-one will think any less off you/. And those that do, well, they weren’t important to begin with!!

David, well done for your intrepid adventure. I paddled 94miles from Cricklade to Henley in a canadian canoe for charity. That was hard enough and the weather was fantastic, so I admire you ten-fold for the huge effort you are making and have a slight inkling of the strength of mind you must be drawing on to keep on going!

Many congratulations on your recent successes, including that heroic swim. Well done! Before Christmas, I was surprised to find out that you were also a children’s author, and I was delighted to find out that you were a fantastic one at that! Not only have I thoroughly enjoyed reading all four of your books (I can’t even pick a favourite!), but I am a teacher of a mixed year 4/5 class and the children have loved them too! We decided to do a whole literacy topic around you and the stories and it is very pleasing to see children who are normally unenthusiastic readers rushing to the shop to buy your books. I hope you realise that your style of writing is, in my opinion, absolutely perfect for all children (but also appealing to ‘big kids’ like myself).
I know it’s a long shot but if you happen to be around the West Yorkshire area anytime, it would be unbelievable if you could come and visit us and see the children’s work. They are studying your writing style and creating stories of their own. Of course we don’t expect you to donate this time for free. We can discuss details. If this is not possible, we could always send a sample of the stories to you? I’m sure it would mean the world to the children if you were to offer some feedback and writing tips?
Just let me know if you can be on board in any way, big or small, Of course I appreciate that you are very busy.
